Dr. Babak Maleki is a board-certified Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic surgeon. Born in Chicago and reared in Montreal, Dr. Maleki is a multilingual professional, proficient in English, French, and Farsi, and is deeply aware of the cultural sensitivities of his diverse patient base.

A graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Dr. Maleki honed his skills in Ophthalmology at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and specialized in Orbit and Oculoplastic surgery at the prestigious University of Montreal. Under the guidance of remarkable mentors like Drs. Francois Codere, Isabelle Hardy, Patick Boulos, and Jamie Wong, Dr. Maleki has successfully completed over 10,000 eyelid procedures over the past decade.

In 2010, Dalhousie University enlisted his expertise to establish an oculoplastic surgery program. A fervent teacher, Dr. Maleki has mentored over 40 medical residents and students from diverse specialties during his tenure as director of the postgraduate training program in oculoplastics at Dalhousie University. He is also on the faculty of ophthalmology in 2015 at the University of Toronto.

Globally, he has offered training as part of ORBIS, a non-profit organization providing free surgeries and training to underprivileged communities worldwide.

His professional excellence is recognized by his peers and is evident from his tenure as president of the Canadian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery. An active member of several prestigious societies, he also reviews scientific papers for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, leveraging his expertise in oculoplastic surgery.
